Fixing your Verbs.

Whats the difference between a noun and a verb?

Verbs are words that describe an action (e.g., swim, is running). Verbs change according to the time of the action.

PAST TENSE: I jumped over the log.

PRESENT TENSE: I jump over the log.

FUTURE TENSE: I will jump over the log.

Draw these words:

Sit

Run

Explode

Went

Is

Sit, run, explode are easy to draw because they are the stronger verbs. Is and Went are not easy to draw because they are weak.

A Powerful Verb is when you use a synonym (a word which has the same

meaning) to make your writing more descriptive and exciting.

Read these persuasive examples:

Now read these narrative examples:

A strong verb is a specific, descriptive verb used in writing.

Weak verbstell;Strong verbs show.

They make your reader imagine your writing, not just understand it.Therefore strong verbs should be used in all your writing.
